When ascent angle goes up, fluid between two chambers seeks a balance, engaging a piston that lifts the heel. It's got every angle of lift, from 2º to 13º, making every step perfect for maximum efficiency. The toe-piece has pins for a natural feel while moving, and it switches easily between ski/tour mode.
